   Total Hip Replacement

Lexington Small Animal Surgery began performing Total Hip Replacement in 2000. The primary indication for total hip replacement is debilitating hip dysplasia. The technique involves replacing the acetabulaum (the socket portion of the ball and socket joint) with an ultra high molecular weight polypropylene cup and the head and neck of the femur with cobalt chromium implants. The procedure can provide pain free function to dogs affected with debilitating hip dysplasia.
